Hi Phi Blogs
Setting up draytek routers for o2 - Not so easy
One of our customers were having a problem with thier previous ISP. We decided that we would try something else. We looked into cable broadband as the technology is faster than the current DSL technology, but Virgin Media did not serve that area for this customer.
The best we could get was the services being provided by some LLU companies providing fast DSL technologies. We decided to go with o2 (via Be) as they seem to indicate that we would receive around 15/16Mb download and 1.5MB upload.
So it took a week to move to their service and they sent a new Speedtouch router to connect up. Now we already have a draytek 2820 in place which provides additional services above the supplied Speedtouch Router. So we thought change username and password to empty on the Draytek and away we go. No Joy it takes a bit more than that, o2 tech's do not support the draytek and googling did not quite give us the answer required.
After a bit of running around we managed to get it to work with the following settings.
Once you have logged into the draytek.
1. Select Internet access 2. Click on tab 'MPoA(RFC1483/2684) and enable 3. a. Change Multi-PVC channel to channel 2 b. VPI = 0 c. VCI = 101 d. Modulation = ADSL2+(G.992.5) e. WAN Connection Detection Mode = Arp Detect f. Select obtain an IP address Automatically
4. If you have require a static IP address you will need the following a. Specify IP address, Subnet and Gateway address provided by o2 b. Set the default MAC address so that it is the same as the Speedtouch router provided (May apply to automatically assigned IP addresses as well) c. Set DNS IP server addresses provided by o2

You can check what you have set up by viewing the PVC's
I have done this mainly from memory so it may not be totally right, but it's a start. Good Luck.
